Sewickley Academy strikes football co-op agreement – WTAE Pittsburgh

The latest breaking updates, delivered straight to your email inbox.
For the first time in the school’s 186-year history, students at Sewickley Academy will participate in a sanctioned organized football program through a co-op agreement.
A deal was struck with the Moon Area School District for students at the Academy to play as members of the Moon football program, grades seven through 12.
Under PIAA guidelines, the co-op requires Moon to take in at least half of the male enrollment between grades 10-12. That will happen without forcing Moon to move up into Class 6, a major factor in reaching an agreement.
“Western Pennsylvania, it’s a way of life for a lot of people,” says Mike Scerbo, director of athletics at Sewickley Academy. “It’s big for us as an institution, and it’s really big for our current families, and potential families that would want to enroll in the academy.”
Approximately a half dozen students at the Academy are preparing to play football for Moon during the upcoming season.
