Senegal’s national beach soccer team will play two friendly matches against the United Arab Emirates on January 8 and 9 in Dubai as part of their preparations for the 2025 Beach Soccer World Cup.
The announcement was made by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) on December 30, fulfilling a request made earlier by head coach Ngalla Sylla.
“We made the request for preparation matches, and we’re pleased to have the confirmation,” said Sylla, highlighting the importance of these games in sharpening the team’s competitive edge ahead of the tournament.
As reigning African champions, Senegal will represent the continent alongside Mauritania at the World Cup, scheduled to take place from May 1 to 11 in the Seychelles Islands.
The Lions of Beach Soccer are eager to improve on their performance in the last World Cup held in Dubai, where they were eliminated in the first round—a rare setback for a team that had consistently advanced further since 2015.
The matches against the UAE are expected to provide the team with a valuable test of their tactics and fitness as they aim to reaffirm their dominance on the global stage.
