Trying to select the best of the best is a difficult chore, especially when it comes to the top players from the 2024 high school football season in the Bucks County Courier Times/Intelligencer coverage, but we did our best.
Our annual all-star team represents some of the great high school athletes we saw all year.
The top players from all over Bucks and Montgomery counties are recognized here with our first- and second-team and honorable-mention selections.
Quarterback – Gavin Sidwar, La Salle High, junior: He threw for a school-record 2,747 yards and 31 touchdowns (also a school record) while completing 69 percent of his passes.
Running back – Ryan Clemens, Central Bucks West, senior: He ran for 1,713 yards with 15 rushing touchdowns. Also played linebacker and handled the placekicking chores.
Running back – Raymond Holman, Morrisville, senior: He ran for 1,893 yards with 19 rushing touchdowns. Finished his career with 41 rushing touchdowns. Committed to play at Morgan State University.
Offensive line – Jimmy Baker, Upper Moreland, senior: A two-way lineman, and three-year starter, he was a first-team Suburban One League American Conference selection on both offense and defense.
Offensive line – Grayson McKeough, La Salle High, junior: The 6-foot-8, 240-pounder was a first-team Philadelphia Catholic League Red Division selection. Has already received an offer from Syracuse University, among others.
Offensive line – Nick Micewski, Central Bucks South, senior: A two-way lineman, and three-year starter, he was a first-team Suburban One League National Conference selection on both offense and defense.
Offensive line – Jake Quinlan, Bensalem, senior: A three-time Suburban One League Continental Conference first-team selection on the offensive line, he was also a SOL Continental Conference selection on defense this season.
Tight end – Connor Frederick, Neshaminy, senior: He finished the season with 27 catches for 301 yards and three touchdowns. Also had 40 tackles, and six tackles for loss, at linebacker.
Wide receiver – Aiden Burgy, Quakertown, senior: He finished the season with 51 catches for a school-record 925 yards and 15 touchdowns (also a school record) and was named the Suburban One League Continental Conference Player of the Year.
Wide receiver – Joey O’Brien, La Salle High, junior: He finished the season with 68 catches for 1,029 yards and 12 touchdowns and was a first-team Philadelphia Catholic League Red Division selection on offense and defense (defensive back), as well as named the PCL Red Division MVP.
Wide receiver – Hunter Smeltz, Souderton, junior: He finished the season with 56 catches for 785 yards and four touchdowns.
Placekicker – Ryan Bocklet, North Penn, senior: He converted 12 of 15 field goals with a long of 49 yards and made all 47 of his extra point tries. He also had 28 touchbacks on kickoffs.

Defensive line – Ed Bowen, Central Bucks South, senior: He finished with 75 tackles and 18.5 tackles for loss. His 12 sacks were the fourth-highest total in PIAA Class 6A statewide.
Defensive line – Aidan Eves, North Penn, senior: He finished the season with 71 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and eight sacks. At tight end, he caught 26 passes for 432 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensive line – Sincer Fairey, Conwell-Egan, senior: He finished with 36 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss to go along with an interception and four pass deflections.
Linebacker – Dylan Clair, La Salle High, senior: He finished the season with a team-high 78 tackles and 6.5 sacks. He also had 12 tackles for loss and forced a pair of fumbles.
Linebacker – Walker Murray, Pennsbury, senior: He finished with a team-high 120 tackles with 25 tackles for loss. He also had four sacks and an interception.
Linebacker – Nate Szydlik, Council Rock South, junior: Nate Szydlik, Council Rock South, junior: He finished with a team-high 101 tackles with 17 tackles for loss. He also had four sacks, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Linebacker – Chris Ulmer, Lansdale Catholic, senior: He finished with a team-high 108 tackles with 16 tackles for loss. He also had two sacks and two forced fumbles. Committed to play at Monmouth University.
Linebacker – Jim Wade, Central Bucks South, senior: He finished with 72 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss. He also had 5.5 sacks, two blocked punts and an interception.
Defensive back – Matt Pownall, North Penn, junior: He finished with 64 tackles, nine pass breakups, two interceptions and a sack. On offense he rushed for 938 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensive back – Ky’iere Rankins, Morrisville, senior: The Bicentennial Athletic League defensive Player of the Year, he finished with 74 tackles and two interceptions. At quarterback, he threw for a school-record 306 yards against Jenkintown.
Defensive back – Matt Thomas, Quakertown, senior: He finished the season with 35 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defensed. On offense, he caught 47 passes for 620 yards and five touchdowns.
Punter – Luke Sword, Upper Moreland, junior: He finished with a 46.7-yard punting average and had 35 touchbacks on kickoffs. He also converted 42 of 43 extra points.
