McQuaid is No. 28 in the state rankings in Class AA and Aquinas is right behind at No. 29. The rivals play for a spot in the Section final at 7 p.m. Friday.

Top semifinals games:Aquinas ends McQuaid’s half-decade reign
Aquinas has ended McQuaid’s reign in Section V. The Little Irish snapped the Knights streak of Section V titles at five straight. No. 3 seed Aquinas will play No. 8 seed Rush-Henrietta at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at SUNY Brockport.
Eastridge won on a deep touchdown pass as time expired. Lancers quarterback Benny Calixto heaved a 33-yard touchdown to Dwayne Collins on the final play. Collins leaped in the air between two defenders, contorted his body parallel to the ground and came down with the game-winning touchdown. No. 3 Eastridge will play No. 1 Batavia in the Class B championship at noon on Saturday, Nov. 16 at SUNY Brockport.
Canandaigua is looking to start a new title streak. The Gray Wolves won four straight Section V championships before being eliminated in the sectional semifinals last year. Canandaigua will play the winner of Monroe vs. Brighton at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at SUNY Brockport.
Top-seeded Batavia advanced to the Class B championship and is seeking its first Section V title since 2022. Bronx Buchholz completed 7 of 11 passes for 83 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns for the Blue Devils.
Rush-Henrietta pulled off another upset. The No. 8 seeded Royal Comets took down No. 1 Fairport in the quarterfinals and snapped No. 4 University Prep’s four-game winning streak to advance to the Class AA final. Rush-Henrietta went 2-7 a year ago and last won a Section V title in 2011.
Canandaigua trailed 7-6 but scored 20 straight points to close out the first half. Drew Williamee has three touchdown passes for the Gray Wolves.
Imani Wagstaff Jr. caught a touchdown pass from Brendan Mangone to put Rush-Henrietta ahead 13-7 against University Prep.
Canandaigua scored a touchdown and added a 2-point conversion with 6:31 left in the second quarter for a 14-7 lead over Brockport.
Brockport quarterback Landon Scott tossed a 3-yard touchdown to Brayden Scaccia for a 7-6 lead over Canandaigua.
