Southeastern Conference soccer is staying in Pensacola – at least for the next two seasons.
Pensacola Sports, in a press release, announced Friday that the SEC Women’s Soccer Championship will stay in Northwest Florida through the 2026 season. Pensacola has hosted the tournament at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex since 2022.
“We’re thrilled that the SEC has recommitted to Pensacola for this tournament. Each year, we strive to enhance the tournament experience for everyone involved, and this extension shows the confidence the SEC has in Pensacola as a host city,” Pensacola Sports President Ray Palmer said. “We’re looking forward to welcoming the teams and their supporters back through 2026 and possibly beyond.”
In the three years, South Carolina, Georgia and now the University of Texas have won conference titles. This past fall’s was Texas’ first-ever SEC championship crown.
After record-breaking crowds in 2023, there was even more attendance at the 2024 championships. The new contract also includes an option to extend the partnership with Pensacola hosting the tournament through 2029.
“Pensacola has provided an outstanding experience for our teams and SEC soccer fans from across the region,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. “We look forward to continuing to have Pensacola as the backdrop to long-lasting memories for our student-athletes and fans.”
This announcement comes on the heels that Pensacola Sports, working with the Sun Belt Conference and Visit Pensacola, is hosting the SBC basketball championships through 2030 at the Pensacola Bay Center.
