Home » Scotland Clinches Victory Over USA At The T20 World Cup Qualifier
April 29th, 2024
Abu Dhabi, UAE: Scotland delivered a second blow to USA’s World Cup campaign with a dominant 44-run victory in the 9th match of the T20 World Cup Qualifier.
Opting to field first, the USA bowlers aimed to restrict Scotland’s batting lineup. While Scotland managed to get a respectable total of 149 runs in 20 overs, Ishani Vaghela (2/17) and Aditi Chudasama (2/25) managed to pick up crucial wickets at regular intervals.
Scotland’s captain, Kathryn Bryce’s unbeaten 57 runs and Ailsa Lister’s 34 runs in 22 balls provided a solid foundation for the Scottish innings. Bryce continued to anchor the innings with crucial contributions from other players like Lorna Jack (20), ensuring Scotland had a defendable total on the board.
Although Isani Vaghela (30 runs off 26 balls), Jivana Aras (24 runs off 28 balls), and Aditiba Chudasama (20 runs off 20 balls) showcased promising down-the-order batting performances, exceptional bowling from the Scottish players restricted the USA Women’s Team to a total of 105 runs.
Kathryn Bryce led Scotland’s bowling attack with mind-boggling figures of 4/17, well-supported by Abtaha Maqsood (2/16).
Kathryn Bryce’s outstanding all-round performance earned her the well-deserved title of Player of the Match.
