Unranked San Francisco men’s soccer dominated No. 2 Stanford 2-0 in a non-conference cross-city rivalry — handing the Cardinal its first loss since August 25th. The Dons, in front of a sold-out home crowd, scored a goal in both halves and held 13 Stanford shots and eight corners at bay to secure the top-ranked shutout.
San Francisco took the lead in the 34th minute off a first-time left-footed finish from David Raphael that sailed into the side netting. Then it was Brayden Beason in the 77th minute who delivered a dangerous ball into the box where it deflected off a Stanford defender and doubled the Dom lead.

The two Bay Area teams have been meeting since 2005. Stanford holds the advantage in the past ten matchups with a 7-3 record, but the Dons have now claimed victory in the last two meetings. With tonight’s win, the Dons improve to 4-5-3 as they return to WCC play while the Cardinal drops to 8-2-3 and will look to rally against a tough ACC slate.
