Salesianum senior Tyler Cifa has been named the Player of the Year and leads the All-State boys soccer teams selected by the Delaware High School Coaches Association.
Cifa tops the All-State Top XI team and has also been named a high school All-American.
Charter of Wilmington senior Gavin Newcombe, Charter of Wilmington junior Michael Capretto, Caravel senior Finlay Lum, Sussex Academy senior CJ Norton and Appoquinimink senior Jack Talley also made the Top XI team and earned All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors.
The other members of the Top XI team are Caesar Rodney senior Trevor Sullivan, Delcastle senior Diego Pedroza-Luna, Salesianum junior Chase Esser, Wilmington Friends senior Kato Connor and Conrad senior Leonardo Marquez-Oliva.
Newcombe, Sullivan, Connor, Lum and Capretto also earned Top XI team honors in 2023.
DIVISION I: Caesar Rodney downs Salesianum, wins first soccer championship in 30 years
Leo Marianiello of Conrad is the overall Coach of the Year and won the top coaching honors among the small schools. Other Coaches of the Year are Justin Null of St. Georges (large schools) and Scott Mosier of Salesianum (private-parochial).
Mike Scruggs of Middletown has been named overall Assistant Coach of the Year and also took the honors among large schools. Other Assistant Coaches of the Year are Concord’s Paul Bogle (small schools) and Sanford’s Felipe Torres (private-parochial).
