Tajon Buchanan should be back on the pitch for Inter Milan next month, reintegrating into the team slowly.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi’s plan is to have Buchanan back in mid-November.
Buchanan has been on the sidelines for several months now.
The 25-year-old has been recovering from a very serious injury. He fractured his tibia during training with the Canadian national team at the Copa America over the summer.
That leg break required surgery. Therefore, Buchanan had a long recovery process before he could even return to individual training.
Last month, Buchanan was deemed to have fully healed from his injury.
Therefore, the Canadian was able to get back on the training pitch and start recovering match-fitness. But it’s not as though that was ever going to be a short process.
Naturally, Inter have not wanted to rush Buchanan back.
Buchanan spent the international break getting back to training. However, he was not quite able to make a return to training with the rest of the squad.
But now, Buchanan is back.
The Canadian international is ready to get back up to speed.
That does not mean that Buchanan will immediately be back in an Inter squad.
There are still significant questions about the speed with which the former Club Brugge wingback can find his best form.
As such, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi intends to dole out the minutes gradually.
Buchanan will not be in the squad for Sunday’s Serie A match against Juventus. But for matches to come against Empoli and Venezia, he very well could be.
Then, as November rolls on, Inzaghi will look to have the 25-year-old fully reintegrated into the rotation.
