Inter Milan will learn their opponents for the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup in today’s draw.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the Nerazzurri will avoid European teams until at least the knockout rounds.
Today will be the group stage draw for the FIFA Club World Cup draw.
Considering that there are teams from all of FIFA’s confederations in the competition, the priority is to set up a draw that sees teams avoid opposition from their own confederations for as long as possible.
With twelve of the 36 teams from UEFA, it will be impossible to totally avoid European teams facing each other in the group stage.
However, in the case of Inter, it is feasible for the Nerazzurri to only face teams from outside of Europe.
Inter are in pot two for the seeding of today’s draw.
That pot consists exclusively of European teams, including Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and Porto.
As far as pot one opposition, Inter could face any of Flamengo, Palmeiras, River Plate, and Fluminense. All of these are South American teams.
Meanwhile, all of the pot three teams are non-European. Therefore they are on the table as potential opponents for Inter.
The eight teams in pot three are Al-Hilal, Ulsan HD, Al Ahly, Monterrey, León, Wydad Casablanca, Boca Juniors, and Botafogo.

Lastly, as far as pot four teams, Inter could face any of Urawa Red Diamonds, Al-Ain, ES Tunis, Seattle Sounders, Inter Miami, Auckland City, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Pachuca.
