Reece Howden wrapped up his second victory of the ski cross campaign on Saturday: his 13th career World Cup breakthrough and the second in Innichen, Italy.
Switzerland's Alex Fiva nipped at the Chilliwack resident's heels for silver, and Simone Deromedis held down bronze medal position.
"This was the classic Innichen with nice hard, fast snow and multiple racing lines," Howden told the media. "This cross-Alps tour to start the season is a lot of racing in a short period of time and we couldn’t do it without the amazing support we have. We have such a great team of coaches, techs, and staff. Couldn’t do it without them and the support of our great sponsors. I’m happy to come home from it with a couple of wins.
"I’m looking forward to celebrating with our Canadian family here and then getting home for some family time over the holidays."
On the ladies' side: Marielle Thompson's medal streak ended with a sixth-place result. India Sherret paced Team Canada in fourth to bolster her second-overall spot in the rankings, and Hannah Schmidt won the small final to end up fifth.
Canadian ski cross racers will have a nice holiday break, with their next events not happening until Jan. 16 and 17 in Reiteralm, Austria. Full results from Innichen are available here.
