IRVINE — Monterey Bay F.C. heads to Orange County on a wave of momentum, having won four straight to move into second place in the United Soccer League Championship Western Conference
But although Orange County is coming off its first loss of the young season, it will be a formidable foe in Saturday’s 7 p.m. matchup at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Union has won four, lost one and has two draws for 14 points. They sit behind Sacramento, which has 15 points and beat Orange County 2-0 last week. Orange County is 3-1-3 with 12 points.
Monterey Bay F.C. is coming off a  2-1 win over host Memphis, scoring both goals in the second half.
Interestingly enough the Union and Sacramento won’t face each other in conference play until June 8, but they will meet on May 7 in Sacramento in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The Union is unbeaten on the road and has outscored opponents 11-7 this season. Tristan Trager leads the Union with four goals and is tied for fifth in the league. Mobi Fehr leads the Union in assists with two, which is also tied for fifth in the league.
Orange County, meanwhile, has outscored opponents 9-6.
