COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – It’s no secret that it takes hard work to make it to the NFL. And that’s a common goal among the 7-14 year old kids at the Pro Football Camp.
“Yeah that’s one of my dreams … it makes me feel cool that i know some NFL players,” said 13 year old Dante Sermeno at the first day of camp.
In it’s 19th year, the camp has brought in more pros than ever before. Many of them say they remember realizing their love for the game as a kid at a camp like this and want the kids to know, they can make their goals a reality.
“A lot of people want to be in the NFL not everyone thinks its attainable then they meet us and they see we came from the same spot its all about determination and hard work,” said Philadelphia Eagles center, Cam Jurgens.
“It’s a game we grew up playing but in the higher levels you forget the little things like why you do it. So, coming put here grounds you its just backyard football like we’ve been doing it since we were kids,” Ifeadi Odenigbo said. He was a linebacker for Vikings, Colts, Jets and Browns.
“For me its a battery filler not a drainer. To be out here and push these kids, It’s infections,” said Sterling Weatherford who’s played for the Bears but is currently a free agent linebacker.
“Camp is really fun I love everything about it its just a miracle I‘m here I’m so excited I got to do this with actual NFL players … what I learned from them is never give up and stick with your dreams,“ said nine year old Jaxon Cecil.
The camp runs June 24-26.
