Prep roundup: Ogden, Morgan win boys soccer playoff games – Standard-Examiner

OGDEN — Xavier Peregrina kept a clean sheet and eight different Tigers scored as No. 3 Ogden High boys soccer blanked No. 14 Grantsville (4-11) by an 8-1 score Wednesday in the second round of the 3A state playoffs.
Ben Points, Adam Jenks, Taylor Pierce, Lincoln Barnes, Gerardo Esquivel, Brayden Wilson, Levi Wilson and Jace Rodriguez each netted for Ogden (12-3). Luis Velasco tallied three assists.
Ogden will host No. 11 Juan Diego in the quarterfinals Saturday.
MORGAN — Jett Beckstrom and Nathan Haws each had two goals and one assist as No. 2 Morgan blanked No. 15 Richfield (4-12) in the 3A second round.
Beau Johnson added a goal and an assist for Morgan (13-2). Anders Barney netted once. Ronan Ratchford recorded the clean sheet, and the Trojan defense did not allow a Richfield shot on goal.
Morgan next hosts No. 7 South Summit in the quarterfinals Saturday.
OGDEN — Kevin Aguilar scored a brace for No. 6 Ben Lomond (6-8) but the Scots lost at home to No. 11 Juan Diego (6-6) in the 3A second round.
Juan Diego returns to Ogden to face Ogden High in the quarterfinals Saturday.
KAYSVILLE — Fremont scored three goals in seven minutes to turn a 1-0 halftime deficit into a 3-2 region win at Davis.
Payton Clark netted a brace for Fremont (8-5, 6-3 Region 1). Grant Morrison scored one goal. Kason Kotter had two assists and Jack Ballstaedt assisted one goal.
Davis (4-8, 2-7) did not report stats.
FARMINGTON — After ending full time 1-1, Farmington outshot Weber 3-1 in penalty kicks for a region win.
Kolson Helquist netted in the second half on a Jackson Cheney assist for Farmington (12-1, 8-1 Region 1).
Garrett Graves netted on a Luke Pack assist for Weber (7-6, 4-5).
MIDVALE — Layton Christian clinched at least a share of the Region 10 title with a win at Hillcrest.
Miguel Kwiatkowski kept the clean sheet for Layton Christian (12-1, 8-1 Region 10). Joaquim Diniz, Theo Villela and Davi Aguiar each netted for the Eagles while Bernardo Moreira tallied one assist.
PLAIN CITY — After Farmington scored three runs to take a 6-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning, Fremont plated four runs in the bottom half for a walk-off win.
Ivee Johnson batted 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, and pitched 6 1/3 innings with seven hits, five earned runs and four strikeouts in a no-decision for Fremont (8-4, 6-2 Region 1). Aly Tobias batted 2 for 3. Saige Steele got the win with one hit and one strikeout in 2/3 relief innings.
Morgan Rogers hit a solo home run for Farmington (8-7, 4-3). Lexi Crowley hit a triple and a double and drove in one. Nev Carrasquel went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
LAYTON — Kennadie Blackmer pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts, allowing three hits, and batted 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs as Box Elder won at Northridge in five innings.
Kailee Hall batted 3 for 4 with three runs scored for Box Elder (18-4, 10-2 Region 5).
Northridge (4-13, 3-8) did not report stats.
Herriman 17, Layton 2
PLEASANT VIEW — Gavin Jacks batted 3 for 5 with two RBIs as Davis won at Weber.
Carter Garrett batted 2 for 4 and scored a run for Davis (16-5, 8-3 Region 1). Kaleb Weaver and Jaxon Marble each hit a single and scored two runs. Owen Talbot and Wally Grant each drove in two. Grant earned the win with four hits, three earned runs and seven strikeouts over four innings.
Ashton Burnett batted 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for Weber (7-14, 3-8). Aiden Rodarte hit an RBI single. Eastyn Barker and Tyce Abbot each had a hit.
LAYTON — Farmington scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning to grab an extra-inning region win at Layton.
Jaxon Ball hit a two-run double for Farmington (8-11-1, 6-4-1 Region 1). Austin Rees batted 2 for 5 and drove in one and pitched a complete game with four hits, one earned run and one strikeout in the win.
Talon Hansen batted 2 for 4 and drove in one for Layton (10-10, 3-8). Fish Manning and Eli Anderson each singled.
WASHINGTON TERRACE — Kaycee Parkhurst batted 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Bonneville past Roy.
Jaxon Hymas hit a single, drove in two and scored two runs for Bonneville (9-12, 2-9 Region 5). Ryker Allen got the win with two hits, three earned runs and eight strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.
Bryce Bagby batted 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored for Roy (4-17, 3-7). Tyler Clark hit an RBI single.
CLEARFIELD — Hudson Meyer hit an RBI single and Cleafied scored four runs on two hits to beat Box Elder.
Colt Chambers got the other hit for Clearfield (10-11, 6-4 Region 5). Peyton Kotter pitched a complete game with seven hits, two earned runs and 11 strikeouts.
Landon Golman hit a two-run double for Box Elder (10-11, 5-6). KJ Argyle added a double. Damon Rodreguez and Ryan Griffin each had two hits.
