Pitt’s basketball staff extended another offer to a prospect in the class of 2025 on Sunday night.
The Panthers’ staff offered Cornelius “CJ” Ingram II, a 6-foot-6 athlete who plays at the guard position in basketball and quarterback on the gridiron. Ingram has recently added offers from Pitt, Arizona State, Murray State, Florida (official visit June 14), Jacksonville, and others on the basketball court, but also touts a power-five level recruitment in football.

In fact, Ingram holds an offer from Pitt’s football program as well. The Panthers’ football staff extended an offer back in May after meeting Pitt’s offensive coordinator, Kade Bell.

At that point in his recruitment, Ingram was struggling to gain as much traction on the basketball recruiting end, compared to football.
“With basketball, you really don’t get recruited hard until your junior year,” he told PSN in May. “…But it’s been a tough recruiting process because some schools that haven’t offered in football think that I’m going to play basketball and other schools that haven’t offered in basketball, think I’m going to play football in college. It’s been tough and I’m just trying to weigh out the options now.”

Now, with his recent list of hoops offers, Ingram is looking more and more like a top prospect in both sports with each day.

When Ingram met with Bell, he had the opportunity to throw in front of the Pitt coach during a school day.
“Normally during second period, I don’t have a class and that’s when I work out for basketball, and I work out for football after school,” he said. “It threw my schedule off but to have an opportunity to throw in front of a Power Four school, I was excited to have an opportunity to do so. Doing that was almost like a job interview and it was nerve-racking. I was a bit nervous but once I got in that rhythm, I felt good and was just trying to have fun. Coach had me throw some deep balls, definitely a lot of stuff on the run, he wanted to see how I moved coming out of the pocket. A lot of quick play-action stuff, he wanted to see me flipping my hips.”
Pitt has now offered three class-of-2025 prospects since the summer began on the basketball side. The Panthers’ staff also offered nationally-ranked prospects Acaden Lewis and Isaiah Denis, who have both blown up on the recruiting trail since.
