Pinecrest High School football player killed in crash – WRAL News

Brycen Mabe, 17, a football player at Pinecrest High School, was killed Thursday in a crash, according to multiple sources. He was a passenger in the car.
According to the Southern Pines Police Department, the two-car crash occurred around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Fairway Drive and Central Dive in Southern Pines. Mabe, a rising senior, was a passenger in one of the cars.

Pinecrest Patriot Football wrote on Facebook, “It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of one of our own, Brycen Mabe. Brycen was a dedicated member of our program for 3 years. As a varsity starter and rising senior, he showed up every day with a blue collar work ethic and an obvious love for the game. Brycen was the epitome of football.”
Mabe’s mom commented, sharing more about her son, who was taken off life support on Monday, according to a GoFundMe page for the family.
“Our hearts are broken into a million pieces, but we are finding peace and comfort in the only one who can give true peace, Jesus,” she wrote. “He lived, are, drank, spoke, and slept football. Mostly, he wasn’t ashamed to tell others about Jesus.”
The crash is under investigation, police said.
