As anticipation for EA Sports College Football 25 continues to build, fans were given a tease on Friday after the cover for the deluxe edition of the game was posted on the PlayStation Store.
The cover art features a collection of the biggest stars in college football, including Michigan’s Donovan Edwards, Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, walking out of a tunnel into a packed stadium.

EA Sports announced Friday that the covers for both versions of the game will officially drop on May 16:

Here is the only description for the game on the PlayStation Store website: “In EA SPORTS™ College Football 25 experience explosive gameplay variety across 134 FBS schools and immerse yourself in the iconic atmospheres of college football as you chase college greatness.”
When the NCAA adopted name, image and likeness rules in 2021, it opened the door for EA Sports’ college football series to return. The game went on hiatus after the release of NCAA Football 14 in July 2013.
EA Sports announced the return of the franchise in February 2021:
For those who never stopped believing…<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/EASPORTSCollegeFootball?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#EASPORTSCollegeFootball</a> <a href="https://t.co/2vDUYnbXEJ">pic.twitter.com/2vDUYnbXEJ</a>
It took an additional two years before EA Sports reached an agreement to have FBS players in the game. The developer released an official teaser trailer in February, adding that a full reveal would be coming in May.
There is a countdown clock on the EA Sports’ website that seems to indicate the full reveal will happen on May 16:

The official release date will presumably be announced during the full reveal. Past installments of the game were released in early- to mid-July.
EA Sports opened the process for players to opt in and give their likeness to the game on Feb. 22. Players who opt in receive $600 and a copy of the video game.
More than 12,300 FBS players had opted in as of April 17.
