PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix restaurant Mariscos Playa Hermosa got a special visit on Sunday morning.
Actor Cristo Fernandez from Ted Lasso and soccer legend Hector Herrara took over to send owner Emmanuell Maldonado and his family to the COPA America games.
Fernandez and Herrara helped prepare dishes and bus tables and talked with customers.
“It means everything. We’re a small Latino-owned family-owned business here in Phoenix, Arizona. We work really hard, just like so many small businesses here in town, and we try our best every single day. So, to have this experience. To have this spotlight on us, not only as a family, but as a business here in town, is everything to us,” Maldonado said.
Maldonado and his family have owned the restaurant since 2002 and said it has been a long struggle to succeed. But they thank the community, Fernandez and Herrara, for all their support.
Maldonado said the restaurant will be closed for renovations, but they will reopen their doors on July 5.
