PEORIA (25News Now) – Do you have what it takes to play for Peoria’s very own pre-professional soccer team? Well, it might be your chance to score big at the first-ever Peoria City tryouts.
As the USL2 team heads into its third season, male soccer players, ages 23 and under, have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Peoria City technical staff.
Registration starts at 8 p.m. at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex. Upon arrival, all players will fill out a waiver and register to try out for $10 via Venmo or cash. Tryouts will begin promptly at 8:30 p.m.
“We just want to see what players can showcase, so we’re gonna roll the ball out and let them play,” said new assistant coach Ryan Woodside. “We’re looking for high-quality players. If they’re good players, we’re going to be excited to take them on. We’re looking for guys who stand out at the tryout.”
Woodside said they have already signed a few players but don’t have a specific number they are looking for in Wednesday’s open tryouts.
Woodside said he and head coach Mike Paye are both very excited about this new season and hope to take the team in an even better direction.
