The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris begin in just over a month, and the schedule and groupings for the women’s soccer tournament have already been announced.
Group stage matches for both the men’s and women’s tournaments make up some of the first events of this year’s Olympics. The women’s bracket will begin its group matches on Thursday, July 25 – the day before the official opening ceremony for the Paris Games. It will conclude with one of the final gold medal events on Saturday, August 10, which is the day before the closing ceremony.
In total, the women’s bracket features three sessions of group matches then two rounds of knockout stages before the gold medal game.
Unlike the men’s tournament, which has four groups of four national teams, the women’s competition features only three groups of four teams each. In the women’s bracket, the top two teams in each group advance, and the two best third-place teams from the three groups advance to the knockout stage.
