PAK vs NZ T20 World Cup 2024 Highlights: New Zealand qualify for semis after beating Pakistan

PAK vs NZ T20 World Cup 2024 Live Cricket Score: It's Pakistan vs New Zealand, the final Group A game in the T20 World Cup 2024. With only two matches left in the entire group stage, only one team has officially qualified for the semifinals and that is Australia after their win over India.

India are hanging by the thinnest threads in the race for the semifinals and are now dependent on the result of the clash between Pakistan and New Zealand for a last-minute entry into the knockouts. Pakistan, New Zealand and India – all are fighting for the lone place for the last four from Group A. Follow for the latest updates on this clash.
Match Scorecard

Lowest team totals in Women’s T20 World Cups:
46 – BAN-W vs WI-W, Providence, 2018
56 – PAK-W vs NZ-W, Dubai, 2024* (today)
58/9 – BAN-W vs ENG-W, Sylhet, 2014
60 – PAK-W vs ENG-W, Taunton, 2009
60 – SL-W vs NZ-W, Paarl, 2023
And New Zealand have bowled Pakistan out for just 56. This is proper hammering. NZ have qualified for the semis, India and Pakistan are out
Pakistan are in huge trouble and this game looks gone despite the scoring rate not being much. Nida Dar has been stumped out and Pakistan are six down. They are at 54/6 after 10 and need only 57 from 60 balls but need to stay there.
For Pakistan to qualify, they need to hit:
111 in 10.4 overs
112 in 10.5 overs
113 in 10.6 overs
114 in 11.1 overs
115 in 11.2 overs
116 in 11.3 overs
Another one goes and this time it’s a run out. I Javed is run out and Pakistan are in big trouble of being 23/4 after 5
Pakistan are losing wickets here. They need to chase this down in 10.4 overs to qualify. If they chase it after that, India will qualify. If they don’t, New Zealand will qualify
New Zealand end on 110/5 but what crazy scenes we just saw. Pakistan fielders dropped as many as three catches in the final over. Unbelievable! They maybe dropped 7 or 8 today.
Pakistan finally gets a wicket. Halliday is stumped out. Nashra Sandhu gets her third. And now the big fish Devine is gone too. She holes out Sadia Iqbal to long-on, where Fatima holds onto the chance. NZ 96/5 after 18.1
Oh dear, that is terrible. A pretty easy chance at long-on but Sidra Amin drops a sitter. And it is the big fish Devine. No way you could have dropped it.
It was a pretty dry period for the New Zealand batters. And now the first boundary comes after 9 overs. Halliday hits two in an over against Aroob. But the White Ferns still need many more from here. NZ 75/3 after 15.
the spin is doing the trick for Pakistan at the moment. Omaima gets her first and gets Amelia caught at mid-wicket. Lack of pace and Amelia hits it straight to Fatima, who took her second catch of the match. Pakistan are starting to hold onto the chances.NZ 60/3 after 12
Another one for Nashra. She now gets Suzie Bates and would be relieved as she had earlier dropped her. Bates tried going aerial over long-on but the slow pace meant she needed much more power than this. Nida Dar came running and took it with ease. NZ are 54/2 after 10 overs and it looks evenly poised at the moment.
Culprit of putting down Suzie in the last over, Nashra Sandhu comes and takes a wicket. She removes Plimmer as Fatima holds onto a catch at mid-off but not without a bit of a juggle. Amelia Kerr is in, NZ 41/1 after 7
The powerplay is done and New Zealand are going well. They have made 39/0 after the first 6 overs. Pakistan might have to pay the price for the dropped chances. Suzie Bates has been dropped twice already – once each by wicketkeeper Muneeba and then by Nashra at mid-wicket
Nida Dar is in and she could have got Bates on the second ball had Muneeba held onto this one. She looked to reverse hit this one and got the bat but Muneeba, the wicketkeeper, could not have held on to that one
Good two overs for New Zealand. Three boundaries and they have collected 20 from these two. There was a collision between Pakistan fielders in the fourth over at mid-off and covers but we are good to resume. NZ 27/0 after 4
Pakistan have burnt a review early in the very first over. Fatima, the bowler, went for a review for a caught behind against Suzie Bates but there was no bat and only pad. New Zealand are off to a careful start. NZ 7/0 after 2 overs
New Zealand openers Suzie Bates and Plimmer are out in the middle. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana with the new ball in her hand. Off we go
The first thing is that we have to take our chances to finish in the top four. It is possible. I spoke to the girls and that is something we can achieve. Batting has been an issue in the last few games but in situations like this, where you have to achieve more in lesser time, it can work in our favour. (On Fatima Sana) That was a massive blow. When someone in the group loses someone, it is a big blow. She is not just the captain but our most valuable player. We tried our best to lift them up but they (the girls) are very close to each other. Fatima is back now and she can take those emotions further from us. When I looked at the draw, the first thing that struck me was that we were playing the second-last (league) game. Everything happens for a reason and against New Zealand, we have a chance. We are not relying on others, we know what we need to do. I am hoping that could be a good start for our batters.
Pakistan Women (Playing XI): Muneeba Ali(w), Sidra Amin, Sadaf Shamas, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana(c), Iram Javed, Syeda Aroob Shah, Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal
New Zealand Women (Playing XI): Suzie Bates, Georgia Plimmer, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine(c), Brooke Halliday, Maddy Green, Isabella Gaze(w), Rosemary Mair, Lea Tahuhu, Eden Carson, Fran Jonas
We will play according to the NRR. We had a great series against NZ. I am replacing Tuba.
We are gonna have a bat first. Did well in the game against India. It is a new game and new opposition. Can’t get too ahead. One change. Kasperek is out, Jonas comes in. We know what’s at stake.
New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to bat first.
New Zealand Probable XI: Suzie Bates, Georgia Plimmer, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine (c), Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Isabella Gaze(wk), Lea Tahuhu, Leigh Kasparek Rosemary Mair, Eden Carson.
Pakistan Probable XI: Muneeba Ali(wk), Sidra Amin, Sadaf Shamas/Iram Javed, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana, Omaima Sohail, Tuba Hassan, Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, Syeda Aroob Shah

New Zealand have a great chance to reach the semis as they need just a win. India can reach only if Pakistan win but not by more than 53 runs if they bat first or by not more than 9.1 overs remaining (assuming the score is 150). If they win by this margin, Pakistan will reach the semis.
Pakistan, New Zealand and India are still in a fight for the last semifinal spot left from Group A. India are currently second with four points from four matches and an NRR of 0.322. New Zealand are third with four points from three matches with an NRR of 0.282. Pakistan are fourth with two points from three matches and an NRR of -0.488.
It might be Pakistan vs New Zealand to close out Group A in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 but it is still a three-way battle for the last remaining semifinal spot from Group A. While Pakistan and New Zealand will be fighting it out on the field, India will be equally interested in the result as this outcome will finally decide their semifinal fates.
