The city is among several options that teams will be able to use during the tournament to travel to game sites.
Orlando is among the cities presented as options to host team training during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The city was one of 26 locations added for teams to be able to train and rest between matches. FIFA announced the additional options Nov. 22.
Orlando had been in the running to host games for the tournament, but ultimately was not selected.
World Cup games in Florida will be hosted in Miami, with other games in the southeast U.S. being played in Atlanta.
Orlando’s training site will be the Orlando City SC Training Grounds at Osceola Heritage Park and teams would be hosted at the Lake Nona Wave Hotel.
The draw for where the 48 national teams will play will occur in December 2025, and teams will submit their selections for sites after that.
Other locations in Florida that can be used as training sites include Port St. Lucie, Tampa and Palm Beach Gardens.
Meanwhile, Orlando is still poised to host other major soccer events in the run-up to World Cup 2026. FIFA selected Inter&Co Stadium and Camping World Stadium among the host stadiums for the 2025 Club World Cup.
Jason Siegel, president and CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, previously told Orlando Business Journal the long-range schedule of tournaments has provided an opportunity to secure both the hosting of events as well as other activities like team training.
“It’s like playing Tetris,” Siegel said. “As the pieces fall across the board, we want to make sure we have great opportunities to provide economic impact and the return on the investment that the community has to make to get those successful outcomes.”
