Wolf Pack first drive | Nevada answers with a TD
Nevada answered the Beavers’ strong opening drive with an even better one of their own, using just six plays to go 75 yards for a touchdown. All of the damage came on the ground as OSU’s shaky run defense took a beating. Running back Savion Red rushed for 42 yards on two carries — including a 33-yard touchdown run down the left sideline. Quarterback Brandon Lewis added 20 yards on two carries, scrambling away from the Beavers’ defense on broken passing plays. The drive tied the score at 7-7.
Beavers first drive | OSU opens with TD
The Beavers opened the game with a picture-perfect drive, marching 75 yards on eight plays to score the first touchdown of the day. It started with a beautiful play-action pass to tight end Jermaine Terry II, featured a clutch nine-yard catch by Jeremiah Noga on third-and-six and included a heavy dose of Anthony Hankerson, who rushed five times for 45 yards. The biggest play, in fact, came from Hankerson on a 28-yard run that moved the Beavers to the Nevada 3-yard line. On the next play, Jake Reichle punched in a three-year touchdown run on first-and-goal, and OSU took an early 7-0 lead.
Nevada won the pregame coin toss and deferred to the second half. So the Beavers will receive the opening kickoff.
