Oregon secures another 4-star verbal commitment in football – 247Sports

Dan Lanning’s Oregon football program continues its hot streak on the recruiting trail as the Ducks secured another impressive verbal commitment in the 2025 recruiting class.
The latest verbal commitment comes from 4-star running back Dierre Hill from Althoff Catholic High School in the state of Illinois. The 5-foot-11 running back is rated as the No. 143 player overall in the country, the No. 7 running back nationally, and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Illinois.
Oregon was battling Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Missouri for his commitment prior to today’s announcement that was made on social media.
Hill has been on campus twice during this past offseason for unofficial visits. He first made a trip to Eugene back in January to check in with Oregon’s staff and get a real good feel of the campus. Both his parents made the trip. The second and most recent unofficial visit came during Oregon’s Spring Game on April 27th, and it proved to be a critical point in the recruitment. Oregon was able to get Hill in front of Oregon’s new running back coach Ra’Shaad Samples, while also getting Hill and his family back around the rest of Oregon’s coaching staff.
With this commitment from Hill, this is also the first recruit to commit to Oregon’s running back coach Ra’Shaad Samples since his hiring.
Hill was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year this past fall in Illinois. He rushed for 1,788 yards and 23 touchdowns, averaging a whopping 13.6 yards per carry. He also stood out on the defensive side of the football and recorded 32 tackles. He led the Crusaders to the Class 1A state postseason quarterfinals.
With Hill now into Oregon’s 2025 recruiting class, the Ducks hold seven verbal commitments. Hill joins 4-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson, 4-star linebacker Nasir Wyatt, 4-star quarterback Akili Smith jr, 4-star, Matthew Johnson, 4-star receiver Isaiah Mozee, and 4-star wide receiver Cooper Perry. Oregon’s recruiting class is expected to jump from No. 21 overall to No. 16 overall and be ranked fourth among Big Ten programs.
