The Ducks’ trenches are getting even deeper.
Former Michigan State defensive tackle Derrick Harmon chose to transfer to Oregon on Friday afternoon, he announced. The four-star transfer lineman will join an already stacked group at Autzen Stadium this fall.
The 6’ 5’’, 320 pound redshirt junior registered 68 total tackles — including 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in his three years in East Lansing. The Spartans finished 2-7 in regular season play last year, but Harmon chose Oregon head coach Dan Lanning’s group over a rebuilding Michigan State program that will be helmed by former Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith.
The Ducks lost one of their most productive linemen from 2023 in Brandon Dorlus, who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in last month’s NFL Draft. They’ve bounced back well, though, adding multiple five-star recruits (Aydin Breland and Elijah Rushing), as well as transfers like Harmon.
The Ducks’ season is set to kick off with a home matchup against Idaho on August 31, 2024.
