Olympians Advance at Innsbruck World Cup – Gripped Magazine

With the Olympics moving ever closer into focus, the IFSC World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria welcomed nearly 300 climbers in both the boulder and lead disciplines, some of those fresh from Paris 2024 qualification, and many heading to the Olympics.
Climbers like Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Alberto Ginés López is in action after coming through the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) process with his ticket to Paris 2024 to try and defend his title. After qualifications and semis, Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret has advanced to finals in first place.
Talking about competing in Austria, Garnbret said: “I feel great heading towards a competitive week in Innsbruck. Training went according to plan, I was able to focus on preparing for Innsbruck so I am really looking forward to competing again. The atmosphere is always amazing, there is something extra with both Boulder and Lead competitions in just a few days. These will be my last comps before Paris, so I want to prove to myself that I am on the right track, as I did back in China at the start of the season.”
Other Olympics-qualified climbers like Oriane Bertone, Oceania MacKenzie and Ai Mori had all advanced to semis. Follow results here and find out how to watch here. This was Fanny Gibert’s 54th Boulder World Cup and Jakob Schubert’s 56th Boulder World Cup. Stay tuned for finals results and more from the Lead event.
