AUSTIN, Texas — Fresh off an SEC Championship appearance in their inaugural SEC season, the Texas Longhorns are poised for high expectations once again going into the 2025 season.
The Longhorns’ 2025 schedule will be a gauntlet, arguably even tougher than their 2024 campaign, as the team will go an entire month without playing a single game at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Here is the Longhorns’ 2025 football schedule:
Aug. 30 at Ohio State: The season opener will feature a matchup between likely two of the top five teams favored to win the national championship. Ohio State is a perennial powerhouse, who, like Texas, reached the College Football Playoff this season. While both teams are bound to experience some roster turnover due to NIL and April’s NFL Draft, there’s no question that both teams will feature a plethora of talent in what could be a preview of the national championship.
Oct. 4 at Florida: The Longhorns’ SEC opener will take place on the road, as they’ll travel to Gainesville to take on the Gators. The Longhorns blew the Gators out, 49-17, when they faced off at DKR this season.
Oct. 11 vs. Oklahoma in Dallas: The annual Red River Rivalry will feature the heated rivals reigniting the animosity at the Cotton Bowl. Oklahoma is coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign, which saw them go 6-6 including a 34-3 beatdown given by the Longhorns. The Sooners will likely retool during the offseason, as the team’s starting quarterback Jackson Arnold has announced his intention to transfer.
Nov. 15 at Georgia: Another matchup with the team that has so far been Texas’ kryptonite in the SEC. As will be the case in the Ohio State game, it’s quite possible that this matchup could feature a preview of the national championship or the SEC Championship at a minimum.
Nov. 29 vs. Texas A&M: After traveling to the hostile confines of Kyle Field this season, the Longhorns will get the privilege of hosting the Aggies in 2025, with no shortage of tension between the two after what was a spirited and physical game this season.
