COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football has lost another defensive back in its 2024 recruiting class with the decommit of Blake Woody.
The nation’s No. 66 player and No. 7 cornerback first chose the Buckeyes in October just a week after attending their 37-17 win over Maryland during the season. Doing so made him the lone cornerback in a class that had already lost four-star cornerback Jontae Gilbert, who was once the class’ first member.
Woodby would eventually be joined by Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord as the five-star recruits and the nation’s top two cornerbacks over the next three months.
That should’ve wrapped up Tim Walton’s 2024 cornerback class, allowing him and new safeties coach Matt Guerrieri to spend the rest of the year pairing the trio of top 70 recruits with a quality safety class. But after eight months, Woodby has decided that maybe another destination would be a better option.
The four-star recruit is now the third player to decommit from OSU’s second-ranked 2025 class, joining Gilbert and four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs. Overall this takes the class back down to 12 commits still sitting behind only Notre Dame in the national rankings.
Despite Woodby’s decision, Ohio State still has Sanchez and Offord as cornerback commits while its safety class includes four-star DeShawn Stewart and three-star Cody Haddad.
