The Nigeria Cricket Federation has revealed a formidable 15-player squad for the 2025 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, scheduled to take place in Malaysia starting January 18, 2025.
The announcement comes one month before the tournament’s commencement.
The squad remains unchanged from the qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda, where Nigeria secured their World Cup berth. Captain Lucky Piety will lead the team, which includes notable players such as Shola Adekunle, Peculiar Agboya, Anointed Aikigbe, Lillian Ude, and Christabel Chukwuonye.
Other members are Kehinde Amusa, wicketkeeper Deborah Bassey, Bieni Jessica, Omosigbo Eguakun, Victory Igbinedion, Naomi Memeh, Beauty Oguai, Inyene Umoh, and super bowler Peace Usen.
The team is managed by Kenyan coach Sarah Bakhita, with former Yellow Greens captain Blessing Etim as her assistant.
This marks Nigeria’s second appearance at a cricket World Cup, following the men’s U-19 team’s qualification for the 2019 World Cup in South Africa.
In Malaysia, the Junior Yellow Greens will compete in Group C against New Zealand, South Africa, and Samoa. Their campaign kicks off against Samoa on January 18, 2025, followed by matches against New Zealand on January 20, 2025, and South Africa on January 22, 2025.
The 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup is the second edition of the tournament, with India entering as the defending champions.
