Nigeria’s Yellow-Greens have won the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup sub-regional African Qualifier C after defeating Botswana by 77 runs.
The team trounced the Batswana in the tournament’s final on Thursday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The Yellow-Greens, who have qualified for the final round of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers, were unbeaten throughout the five-match tournament.
Nigeria won the toss against Botswana and elected to bat first. They set 13.00 in the first over to signal a high-scoring inning. Botswana’s Tharindu Perera stepped to get the wicket of opener Selim Salau 1(4) with the last ball of the second over, dousing the two quick overs.
Nigeria’s Isaac Danladi came on and paired Sulaimon Runsewe to a partnership of 140, with Danladi’s brilliant knock of 80 off 45 and Runsewe’s 74 off 53 keeping Nigeria in contention and piling pressure on the opponents.
The Yellow-Greens did not have to sweat much as the 181/5 score simply put the game beyond the Batswana.
Both Nigeria and Botswana will join Tanzania, Malawi (from Qualifier A), Zimbabwe, Kenya (from Qualifier B), Namibia and Uganda for the regional qualifier in 2025.
