ATLANTIC CITY — Abdullah Anderson is bringing his football experience back to the resort this summer.
The second annual Abdullah Anderson Free Football Training Camp, presented by the Atlantic City Recreation Department, will be held June 22 at Atlantic City High School. There will be two sessions — a morning session for third to eighth graders, and an afternoon session for high school athletes.
Registration for the morning camp will begin at 9 a.m., with the camp running from 10 to 11:30. Registration for the high school camp will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., with the camp running from 2 to 5.
Those interested must register beforehand at acnj.gov/Departments/recreation. Each camp will be limited to 150 kids.
The third-to-eighth-grade camp will allow kids to participate in football skills and drills with NFL and NCAA Division I athletes, Anderson said. The high school camp will be an official combine experience, with athletic testing powered by Zybek Sports, the same company that holds camps throughout the country, including the NFL combine, where college athletes showcase their talents ahead of the NFL draft.
“It’s a great chance for high school kids to compare numbers with the best in the country,” Anderson said.
Anderson grew up in Atlantic City and graduated from Absegami High School in 2014. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound defensive tackle went on to have a stellar career at Bucknell University, where he was the 2017 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time first-team all-conference player.
Anderson was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2018, where he played until 2020. He has since spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. He played for the Washington Commanders last season and is currently a free agent.
Anderson lives in Galloway Township with his wife, Gianna, and their 10-month-old son.
