The National Football League (NFL) has appointed Stephanie Kwok to the newly created position of vice president, head of flag football.
Kwok will be responsible for driving the league’s growth of flag football, including domestic and international participation, fan engagement, and commercial and media partnerships.
Prior to joining the NFL, Kwok was a partner at career development platform Reforge. She previously served in senior leadership positions at gambling giant FanDuel and worked at Madison Square Garden, overseeing various marketing campaigns for the New York Knicks and Rangers.
In her new role, Kwok will report directly to Troy Vincent, the NFL’s executive vice president of football operations. She will also work closely with NFL executive vice president of club business, events and international Peter O’Reilly, as well as key stakeholders across the league and its teams.
“So much great work has already been done to grow the game of flag, but continuing to help grow it, it’s so exciting,” Kwok told the AP. “With flag in the LA Olympics, it feels like that’s a really big opportunity to be growing the game. I played flag football myself for the last ten-plus years so just being able to have more kids have the opportunity to play … and being able to spread that more and make flag even more accessible and inclusive is really exciting.”
Vincent added: “We are excited that Stephanie is joining our team to apply her proven leadership skills to advance the most affordable, accessible, inclusive, and competitive sport in the world.
“As a flag player and league organiser and operator, Stephanie brings a passion to exponentially expand the game that has taken the sports world by storm and provides opportunity for all girls, boys, men and women to experience the fun and values of football.”
The hiring of Kwok marks the latest effort from the NFL to develop flag football ahead of its Olympic debut in Los Angles in 2028. In March, the league’s head of Europe and APAC Brett Gosper told SportsPro that the NFL and the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) were considering setting up new competitions as part of plans to increase participation and grow the visibility of flag football.
Elsewhere, 777 Partners co-founders Josh Wander and Steven Pasko have resigned from their roles as managing partners amid growing financial struggles for the Miami-based investment firm.
