Tyrell McGuire (Newnan High Football)
A Newnan High School football player is recovering in the hospital after suffering a serious allergic reaction over the weekend.
The school's football team posted a note on Facebook asking the community to pray for Tyrell McGuire.
According to the team, McGuire "had a very severe allergic reaction and has ended up in the hospital in the ICU."
On Saturday, doctors began the process of removing McGuire from sedation while they worked to deal with swelling in his chest and throat.
While the first attempt to come out of sedation did not go well, the school says doctors were able to remove McGuire's breathing tube successfully on Sunday morning.
"The family says that Tyrell is ‘alert and ok,’" officials wrote. "The doctors are continuing to monitor his breathing!"
The team is asking people to continue to pray for McGuire and his family as they go through this difficult time.
