New Zealand’s T20 World Cup winners given heroes welcome on return – ICC Cricket

The White Ferns’ received a warm welcome from friends, family and fans when they landed at Christchurch airport on Friday, with the T20 World Cup trophy proudly on display.
Several enthusiastic fans greeted the players, with their autographs in strong demand.
On 17 October, New Zealand created history by defeating South Africa in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Their 32-run win ensured New Zealand had a first-ever T20 World Cup trophy in Men’s or Women’s cricket.

In the final, the Kiwis were led to a competitive total of 158/5 after being asked to bat, with Melie Kerr (43) and Brooke Halliday (38) top scoring.
Kerr then starred with the ball (3/24) along with Rosemary Mair (3/25) as wheels came off the Proteas’ chase.
Kerr was the star of the Kiwi T20 World Cup campaign and also secured Player of the Tournament honours for her 135 runs and 15 wickets at the event.
New Zealand’s win was the perfect sendoff for Sophie Devine, who was captaining the White Ferns in the format for a final time.
Along with Devine, it was also a precious moment for senior stalwarts like Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu.
New Zealand Cricket had earlier confirmed the Women’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour between 2-10 November. The prestigious trophy will also be on display at the White Ferns’ matches throughout the summer.
