New Zealand’s over-40s team will return home with runners-up medals after losing the final at the Seniors World Cup in Bangkok.
A headed goal from a 66th-minute corner was all that separated New Zealand and England in the final of the tournament played between June 3-8, 2024.
Reaching the final was New Zealand’s best showing in 14 appearances at the invitational tournament.

The Seniors World Cup is an annual invitational tournament for players over 40, organised by the Seniors Football Association of Thailand and supported by the Thai FA.
The inaugural tournament in 2006 was part of a government strategy to re-establish tourism after the devastating tsunami that hit the country on Boxing Day, 2004.
To qualify for the invitational tournament, squads must be all over 40 years old. Three 40-44-year-olds, four players 45-49 and three over 50 must be on the field at any one time.
