Newly appointed head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has started preparation for the team’s world cup qualifiers campaign against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Yesterday he watched a test game between Nigeria Premier Football League side Sunshine Stars and the Nigerian B team, who are in camp in preparation for the CHAN tournament which has now been postponed to August by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
During the course of the game won 3-2 by the Nigerian B team, he was particularly pleased with the performance of two players per what we exclusively gathered. Prior to now he already has the goalkeeper of Enyimba Henry Ozoemena in mind for a spot in the team.
The two players are Enugu Rangers center back Ifeanyi Onyebuchi and midfielder Jide Fatokun of Remo Stars. He made it known to the duo of Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu that he has his eyes on the three players after watching them in the qualifiers against Ghana, shortly after he was appointed.
However he is not certain of their inclusion in his immediate team, but will continue to monitor their progress as the world cup qualifiers games isn’t the best avenue to try out new players given the Super Eagles placement in their group.
