KATHMANDU: The Nepali Women’s U-19 cricket team has commenced indoor training sessions in preparation for the upcoming Women’s U-19 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Malaysia from January 18, 2025.
The training began on Wednesday at the model playing field of the under-construction Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
The team will train in Bharatpur until January 6, focusing on batting, bowling, and fitness, according to head coach Mahesh Prasad Rijal.
Team manager Binod Das said the Chitwan was chosen as the training venue was influenced by the international standards of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium.
Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal extended her best wishes to the players and assured the city’s support for the team’s success.
“The metropolis is committed to providing the necessary assistance to ensure the trainees are well-prepared,” she said.
