Nepal secured a resounding victory over Afghanistan in Monday’s match of the Blind Cricket T20 World Cup, defeating them by 108 runs.
The match, part of the ongoing tournament in Lahore, Pakistan, saw Nepal batting first after losing the toss. They set a formidable target of 229 runs for Afghanistan. However, Afghanistan could only manage 120 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
Nepal’s vice-captain Padam Bahadur Badaila and Naresh Chaudhary played stellar innings, both scoring half-centuries. Badaila remained unbeaten with 92 runs off 51 balls, while Chaudhary scored an unbeaten 72 runs off 62 balls. Bharat Thapa contributed 21 runs, and Sagar Lama added 4 runs. Afghanistan’s bowlers gave away 39 extra runs, boosting Nepal’s total.
In response, Afghanistan’s Abaseen scored 52, Dwaran managed 21, and Sharafat added 13 runs. Nepal’s Sunil Rana Magar took three wickets, while Bharat Thapa, Amish Guragai, and Sunil Subedi Chhetri claimed one wicket each.
Nepal are scheduled to play South Africa in their fourth match on Tuesday. Earlier, Nepal faced defeats against Sri Lanka in their first match and Bangladesh in their second. The tournament features six teams: Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
