Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Neb.
TV channel: BTN

Nebraska went 5-7 in Rhule’s first season as head coach, which came with major questions around the Cornhuskers’ depth and talent level following the firing of Scott Frost. Rhule came from the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and previously built underdog programs Temple and Baylor into tough-minded outfits that overachieved. That hope is in the air in Lincoln despite the lack of a proven plan at quarterback and four straight losses to close out the ‘23 season, all by one possession. The Huskers were 5-3 through eight games with a high-level defense and an offense in need of upgrades.

Perhaps enter freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, a five-star prospect whose commitment marked a huge victory for Rhule going into Year 2. Better play under center and upgrades at the skill positions could be all the difference for the Huskers to flip that 5-7 record into at least a .500 mark and a spot in a bowl game next season. The Red-White game will be a good chance to see how likely those scenarios might be.
