Former Portuguese footballer Nani sparked excitement by suggesting that his ex-teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, might be gearing up for a potential appearance at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
In an interview with “Cidade do Futebol,” Nani humorously commented:
“Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2030 World Cup? He’s about to start a new diet to be ready,” fueling speculation about the future of the Portuguese legend.
These remarks hold particular significance as Portugal, along with Spain and Morocco, has been confirmed as one of the host nations for the 2030 World Cup. Ronaldo previously described this milestone as “a dream come true” and predicted it would be the “most special” World Cup ever.
Current Form and Milestone Expectations
At 39 years old, Ronaldo continues to perform at an elite level with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, ranking among the top scorers this season.
If Ronaldo were to feature in the 2030 World Cup, at the age of 45, he would match the record for the oldest player to participate in a World Cup, set by Essam El-Hadary, who represented Egypt in Russia 2018 at 45 years old.
