The Minot State University (MSU) women’s soccer team is having an impressive season, with an overall record of 9-3-4 and 7-3-3 in NSIC play. After their 2-0 victory over Wayne State on Sunday, November 3, the Beavers are expected to be seen at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Tournament starting Monday, November 11.
The Beavers have one more game before the postseason: against Minnesota State University Moorhead (1-10-2, 1-13-3) on Thursday, November 7. This game will help prepare the Beavers for postseason play.
MSU is on a three-game win streak heading into their final regular season game today. The Beavers beat Winona State University 1-0 and the University of Sioux Falls 2-0 before their third straight win against Wayne State that clinched their playoff spot.
In their last matchup, Mia Lewis and Anna Miotta both scored a goal in their 2-0 victory. This is Anna Miotto’s sixth goal of the season for the Beavers. Other players to watch for Minot State are Iliana Rivera and Yossi Villagrana who both have two goals on the season.
Other teams expected to be seen at the NSIC playoffs are Minnesota State, Concordia-St. Paul, Augustana, St. Cloud State, UMary, Bemidji State, and Northern State.
At the end of the 2023 season, the Beavers ended in 11th place after the regular season. The University of Bemidji beat the University of Mary last year in the championship match 2-0 for the title.
Currently MSU sits at fifth place in the NSIC standings in a conference tie with University of Mary with the same NSIC record of 7-3-3 while the Marauders have an overall record of 9-4-3 on the year. The Beavers lost to the Marauders in Bismarck on September 20 with the University of Mary taking a close 1-0 score for the win.
Northern State University will face the University of Mary in Bismarck for their final regular season match as well today. Final seeding for the NSIC tournament will depend on the outcomes of the final matches today.
