Pakistan have announced their squad for T20 World Cup 2024 (x.com)
As expected, Pakistan have recalled Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who took retirement from international cricket, for their T20 World Cup squad. There is no surprise in the entire squad, with Hasan Ali not being picked among the main squad.
However, there is no reserve player announced either.
It is important to mention that Amir last played in a World Cup for Pakistan way back in 2016. Imad Wasim, on the other hand, last played for the country in the 2021 edition, in the UAE.
In a press release, PCB also gave an update on Haris Rauf, who is still recovering from an injury.
“Haris Rauf is fully fit and bowling well in the nets. It would have been nice if he had gotten an outing at Headingley, but we remain confident that he will continue to maintain an upward trajectory in the upcoming matches, as he will have an important role to play along with other strike bowlers in the T20 World Cup,” a PCB statement read.
As usual, Babar Azam will continue to lead the side, while Fakhar Zamn, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Azam Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed all have retained their places.
It is important to note that Pakistan will have a brand new coach in Gary Kirsten, who was Gujarat Titans’ batting coach and mentor in IPL 2024.
Babar Azam (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan (WK), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan

You don’t often see Kumar Sangakkara, one of the legends of the game, show animated aggression on and off the field. However, on Friday, during the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024 between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the unthinkable happened.
Trent Boult is one of the legends of the game, and the man just keep churning out wickets in the Powerplay with his world-class skills. In the Qualifier 2, he showed his class yet again and took three wickets in the Powerplay to put Cummins-led SRH on the backfoot.
The announcement of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad has been delayed due to dissatisfaction from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi regarding the selection process.
Trent Boult emerged to the RR’s clutch player as he removed three crucial wickets inside his first three overs, one of which was of the attacking Rahul Tripathi.
