While you’re grilling out and getting firework burns, Eli Drinkwitz will look to close some major commitments.
Happy holiday weekend everyone!
As an annual reminder, please don’t Jason Pierre-Paul yourself this year as you gather with friends and family. It would also behoove you to remind your children and other small, young folk that grills are, indeed, hot and should not be touched. I failed to do so recently and ended up with a burned, screaming child. They’re fine, but needed to be pacified with some private television time.
But enough about me! And enough about you!
While all of us are taking some time off work this weekend to observe the Fourth of July holiday, Eli Drinkwitz will most assuredly be very busy. There are multiple big-time commitments coming in the next week that could solidify yet another top-tier recruiting class for Drink and the Tigers. Here’s a brief overview of each impending commitment and what it would mean for the program.
FONG BOMB: On3’s @SWiltfong_ has logged an expert prediction for Missouri to land 4-star WR Jayvan Boggs
Boggs decommitted from Ohio State in March.

The former Ohio State commit Boggs has been on Missouri’s radar for a long time, and the Tigers have long been considered a favorite for his services. He’ll kick off the July 4 weekend by committing later today. All signs point to him joining the good guys.
What it would mean: Mizzou’s crown jewel of the 2025 class, QB Matt Zollers, has been vocal about his efforts to recruit elite playmakers to join him in Columbia. After all, what good is a five-star QB if he doesn’t have anyone to throw to? Boggs would be the second receiver of the 2025 class and the second four-star playmaker to join up alongside Jamarion Morrow.

Where we going ?

Olugbode, a Naperville, Il. native, has been honing his skills at IMG Academy and is ready to announce his destination from a real list of heavy-hitters. He’s set to announce tomorrow afternoon in a live show hosted by 247Sports. Chad Simmons at On3 Sports recently logged a prediction for Olugbode to Mizzou, making the Tigers the clubhouse favorite.
What it would mean: Landing Boggs would be big; landing Olugbode the next day would be immense. The Tigers missed out on local product Corey Simms last week, but could recover quickly by pipping Florida and USC for Olugbode, who is generally considered a Top 100 prospect. Again, it would be a massive boon to Drinkwitz and Zollers, who will have a wealth of playmakers joining him in the 2025 class. Olugbode may be the most college-ready receiver the Tigers have recruited since Luther Burden III.

Jones, a 3-star offensive line prospect, is set to announce his commitment later this weekend, according to reporting done by PowerMizzou on Twitter. Jones is rated especially highly by On3, which has him listed as the 222nd overall recruit in the 2025 class. Kansas State and Arkansas are also hot on his trail.
What it would mean: Jones would be a big addition — literally and figuratively — to a recruiting class that already features Jack Lange and Henry Fenuku, two four-star prospects in their own right. And while those two may have higher consensus rankings than Jones, he brings something you can’t teach: size. Jones would also help Drinkwitz solidify Mizzou’s recruiting territory in the state of Kansas.
BREAKING: CO/25 4 ⭐️ DB Charles Bass ( @cjbass03 ) will announce his decision to one of these 4 July 1st.

Bass is a 6’2 ( 185 LBS ) S/CB out of East St Louis, IL. He’s the 97th ranked recruit in 2025 and ranked 5th in Illinois according to Rivals. Would be a great addition to… pic.twitter.com/AvIQy6vcxG
After originally announcing a commitment date of July 1, East St. Louis cornerback Charles Bass delayed his decision to July 10. It’s hard to read the minds of high schoolers, so we shouldn’t read too much into that decision. However, it should be noted that Mizzou has long been the heavy favorite for Bass, with Illinois right on their tails. Maybe Bass needed another week to make up his mind? Maybe a last minute NIL offer came in and he wanted to discuss things with other coaches? We’ll see next Wednesday.
What it would mean: Bass would be the third defensive back to commit to the Tigers in this class and represents another opportunity to lock down a local blue-chip talent. The East St. Louis to Mizzou pipeline has been strong for the last decade, so it makes all the sense in the world for Bass to continue that legacy, especially with the Tigers so recently having sent two cornerbacks to the NFL.
