Michigan football will return to prime time when it opens the 2024 season this fall.
The first game on the schedule, an Aug. 31 date against Fresno State, has been picked up by NBC and assigned a 7:30 p.m. Eastern kickoff time, the program announced Monday.
The Wolverines are set to host the Mountain West Conference school at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, the first of eight home games on the schedule for the defending national champions. It will be the first time Michigan and Fresno State, set to receive a $1.85 million payout, have played in football.
In a clue that this was coming, Michigan players recently took part in a promotional video for NBC promoting the network’s “Big Ten Saturday night” broadcasts that began last year. The Wolverines had three games in 2023 air on NBC, all in prime time, while their opener streamed exclusively on the network’s Peacock app.
