Michigan football landed a big transfer portal commitment Saturday from a former Georgia linebacker with a familiar last name.
The Wolverines landed their sixth transfer portal commitment of the cycle in Troy Bowles, the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles is a three-star recruit in the transfer cycle, ranked as the No. 258 player and No. 15 linebacker in the portal.

Bowles played sparingly as a sophomore for the Bulldogs, recording three total tackles this season. He also preserved a redshirt in 2024, meaning he has three seasons of eligibility left.
The 6-foot, 220-pound defender was one of the top linebackers of the 2023 recruiting class, tabbed as the No. 80 overall player and No. 6 linebacker, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. He initially had offers from Ohio State, Oklahoma and Ohio State, among others.
Bowles is the fourth defensive pledge of Michigan’s transfer portal class, all of which have come from SEC programs. The Wolverines also landed Alabama defensive lineman Damon Payne and Arkansas defensive backs Tevis Metcalf and TJ Metcalf this cycle.
