After losing starters, reserves and coaches from the defensive back room in 2024, Michigan football added some reinforcements late Thursday night.
Aamir Hill, a former cornerback for Albany, of the Football Championship Subdivision, has committed to join the Wolverines. A 6-foot-1, 200-pound All-American in 2023, Hill recorded 63 tackles, 15 pass breakups and five interceptions in his only season in New York. Before that, he spent three seasons at FCS-level Richmond.
“Home is in Ann Arbor🔒,” Hill posted on social media and Michigan reposted.

Hill’s first season at Richmond was a four-game campaign in spring 2021. He then started 11 games in the fall season, finishing with 13 pass breakups and an interception. Hill then played in nine games in 2022, with 28 tackles including 1½ for loss, half a sack, a forced fumble and an interception.
U-M’s secondary appeared thinned out in the past four months after two of last year’s starters — Mike Sainristil (second round) and Josh Wallace (UDFA) — departed for the pros, but the real hits to the room came when a pair of expected contributors, Keon Sabb and DJ Waller Jr., opted to transfer out, to Alabama and Kentucky, respectively.
Also, three-year starting safety Rod Moore suffered a severe knee injury early in the spring that required surgery; it’s not yet clear if he will be able to return this season. Hill represents some necessary depth for new defensive backs coach Lamar Morgan, who replaced Steve Clinkscale, departed to join head coach Jim Harbaugh with the Los Angeles Chargers.
