Manhattan High head girls’ soccer coach Mike Sanchez talks to his team during the Indians’ 1-1 tie with Seaman on March 19, at Bishop Stadium.
Manhattan High girls’ soccer grabbed its third win of the season on Monday, beating Lawrence Free State 3-1 with a strong second-half performance. 
The Indians (3-1-1) were tied up 1-1 at halftime, but another second-half shutout and two more goals put the Firebirds (1-3) away. 
Emery Ruliffson, Tess Henry and Chloe Porter each got a goal in the game, and Porter and Bailey Stanley added an assist. 
Ruliffson’s goal was a team-best sixth this season. It was also the second for Henry and the first for Porter.
Keeper Evie Ruliffson got her third win, allowing just one goal while recording three saves. 
Manhattan High hosted Washburn Rural (4-2) on Thursday before playing Hays (3-2) at home on Saturday at 2 p.m.
