PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men’s soccer team tied the St. John’s Red Storm (5-5-4, 3-1-1), 1-1, in a midday conference matchup on Oct.19 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars moved to a 7-4-3 overall record, including a 2-1-2 mark in BIG EAST play. Graduate Aidan Davock (Medway, Mass.) scored the Friars’ lone goal of the game, his third of the season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-The first half ended in a scoreless draw, with Providence holding a 3-2 edge in shots over St. John’s.
-At the 57-minute mark, Bernardo Prego (Évora, Portugal) delivered a high cross into the box where Davock headed it into the back of the net.
-The Johnnies quickly responded with a goal of their own 39 seconds later to level the match at 1-1.
-The two teams continued to battle for the remainder of the game, but neither side could find the deciding goal. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

-Davock led the team with three shots which were all on goal.

The Friars will head to Storrs, Conn. to take on the UConn Huskies (7-2-4, 2-1-1 BIG EAST) in a mid-week matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The game will kick-off at 7:00 p.m. and stream on FloSports.
The Huskies hold a 24-8-2 all-time advantage over the Friars. The last meeting between the two teams was last season when Providence defeated UConn, 3-1, in Providence, R.I.
