BATTLE CREEK – The 2024 Battle Creek Enquirer All-Enquirer Boys Soccer Team is made up of players from teams in the Enquirer coverage area and selected by the Enquirer sports staff.

Calhoun Christian/St. Philip
The Calhoun Christian/St. Philip co-op team had a standout season in Division 4, going 10-5-1 and advancing the district finals. Helping along the way was Johann Albarran, a junior, who was one of the top scorers on the team and earned all-district honors.
Calhoun Christian/St. Philip
A key senior, Stephen Andren showed great improvement his final season on the pitch as the Calhoun Christian/St. Philip co-op team had a standout season in Division 4, going 10-5-1 and advancing the district finals. Andren was one of the top scorers on the team and earned all-district honors.
Marshall
Ben Baker is a three-year starter and captain on a Marshall club that went 8-8-2 overall and finished with a league championship in the Interstate 8 Conference. As a defender, Baker was a dominant force and good communicator and helped the Redhawks defense grow and mature into a group that only allowed 19 goals all season. He also earned all-league and all-district honors.
Lakeview
A captain on a young Lakeview team, Alonso Campos was a senior leader for a Lakeview team that went 3-12-1 on the season. Campos played center back for the Spartans and led the defense, earning all-conference consideration in the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference. Campos was a very intelligent player with his positioning and his choices for Lakeview’s defense.
Battle Creek Central
Christian Carodos is a second-year varsity player as a senior for a Battle Creek Central team that went 5-12-1 overall. His leadership and resilience earned his team’s vote as a captain for the 2024 season. His contributions on the team were displayed by consistently applying himself on and off the field. His performances have led him to a spot in the all-district team.
Pennfield
Brady Conley was a junior captain for a young Pennfield team that was 3-17-1 overall. With six goals, while playing center defense, Conley was a team captain for the Panthers and earned all-league honors in the Interstate 8 Conference. Voted MVP for the team, he was also asked to move around the pitch and spent time as a defender and a striker.
Coldwater
Dawood Jabry was a first-year player for Coldwater that made a huge impact after moving to the region from Yemen. Jabry helped Coldwater win its first district title in eight years as the team finished second in the Interstate 8 Conference at 15-7-1 overall. Jabry had 26 goals and four assists at forward for the Cardinals, showing good speed and good ability to hold off defenders as he controlled the ball. Jabry earned all-conference, all-district and all-region honors.
Olivet
Playing defense, Drew Garcia was still a major offensive threat as he scored seven goals and had 19 assists for an Olivet team that went 8-9-2 overall. Garcia was a key senior leader on the back side of the pitch as he earned all-district honors and was an all-conference selection on the Capital Area Activities Conference White Division all-league team.
Olivet
As the starting keeper for Olivet, Logan Giguere was the back line of defense for an Olivet team that went 8-9-2 overall. The junior was a vocal leader for the Eagles as he earned all-district honors and was an all-conference selection on the Capital Area Activities Conference White Division all-league team.
Marshall
A senior leader as a midfielder, Ronnie Gill was playing made huge strides this season and was playing his best soccer at the end of the year. Gill scored four goals and had four assists as he helped the Redhawks go 8-8-2 overall and win a league championship in the Interstate 8 Conference. All four of his assists were on game-winning goals, including the only tally in the conference-clinching 1-0 victory over Coldwater.
Gull Lake
Cole Guilfoyle was a key senior leader on a young Gull Lake team that was hurt by graduation and slipped to a 3-14-2 record after being ranked in the state a year ago. Guilfoyle was a defenseman for the Blue Devils and earned all-district and all-conference honors in the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference as he was part of a defense that only allowed 1.84 goals per game.
Pennfield
As a junior, Garrett Hill took on a leadership role for a young Pennfield team and was the playmaker on the field, leading the attack for the Panthers, who went 3-17-1 overall. Finishing with three goals and five assists, Hill earned honorable mention all-conference honors in the Interstate 8 and was all-district.
Harper Creek
As a junior, Alex LaFleur was the leader of a Harper Creek team that won an All-City tourney championship, advanced to the second round of the districts, finished third in the Interstate 8 Conference and went 9-10-2 overall. LaFleur was a team captain, playing the center back position. As the fastest player on the roster, LaFleur used his athletic ability to affect games. He is a repeat selection on the All-Enquirer team and is a second-year all-conference and all-district selection.
Marshall
John Meyer was the starting goalkeeper for Marshall for all 18 games as the Redhawks went 8-8-2 overall and finished with a league championship in the Interstate 8 Conference. In the net, Meyer only allowed 19 goals all season and finished the year with five shutouts. During conference play, where Marshall went 5-0-1, the Redhawk defense only allowed three goals. He also earned all-league and all-district honors.
Harper Creek
A foreign-exchange student from Germany, Philip Moerchen made a big impact in his only year on the roster as a key player for a Harper Creek team that won an All-City tourney championship, advanced to the second round of the districts, finished third in the Interstate 8 Conference and went 9-10-2 overall. Moerchen was a midfielder for the Beavers, with standout soccer abilities and knowledge, as he finished with seven goals and seven assists. He also earned all-conference and all-district honors this season.
Harper Creek
Just a sophomore, Rodrigo Nunez has started every game for two seasons already for a Harper Creek team that won an All-City tourney championship, advanced to the second round of the districts, finished third in the Interstate 8 Conference and went 9-10-2 overall. The center midfielder was a key producer for the Beavers in that part of the field and earned all-conference honors in the Interstate 8.
Coldwater
As a returning starter as a junior, Samuel Pernia went from a midfielder to a defensive center back this year as he was a key player for the Coldwater’s strong defense, which only allowed 25 goals and had eight shutouts. Pernia helped Coldwater win its first district title in eight years as the team finished second in the Interstate 8 Conference at 15-7-1 overall. Pernia was also all-conference, all-district and all-region.
Lakeview
A returning member of the All-Enquirer team, James Ram finished off a standout high school career as a senior leader for a Lakeview team that went 3-12-1 on the season. Ram did a little bit of everything for Lakeview, playing every position except goalie as he had three goals and a team-high four assists. A technically sound player with great soccer knowledge that could get the ball in the right place. He is a two-time all-league selection in the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference.
Coldwater
A three-year varsity player as a junior, Francisco Ramos was the stopper in goal for the Cardinals as he helped Coldwater win its first district title in eight years as the team finished second in the Interstate 8 Conference at 15-7-1 overall. Ramos had 77 saves on the season and only allowed 23 goals in 20 games. A good communicator, he helped control the defense as a team captain. Ramos earned all-conference honors.
Battle Creek Central
Alexander Small is a second-year varsity player for a Battle Creek Central team that went 5-12-1 overall. His contributions included five goals and two assists, not to mention a constant desire for improvement and relentless work ethic. His efforts have earned him a spot on the all-district team.
Olivet
Connor Toburen was a key part of an Olivet team that went 8-9-2 overall as the senior leader was a scoring threat from his midfield position. Scoring 17 goals and adding nine assists, Toburen earned all-district honors and was an honorable mention all-conference selection on the Capital Area Activities Conference White Division all-league team.
Calhoun Christian/St. Philip
The Calhoun Christian/St. Philip co-op team had a standout season in Division 4, going 10-5-1 and advancing the district finals. Helping along the way was Owen VanderBilt, a team captain, who was a leader on the defense and earned all-district honors.
Gull Lake
Ethan Waldorf was part of a young Gull Lake team that was hurt by graduation and slipped to a 3-14-2 record after being ranked in the state a year ago. Waldorf earned all-district and all-conference honors in the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference as the goalkeeper for the Blue Devils. The sophomore had 70 total saves for a 68% save percentage and allowed just 1.84 goals per game.
