LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Two weeks after Mason beat DeWitt boys’ soccer in penalty kicks, the two schools rematched on Thursday night with a district title on the line. It was once again the Bulldogs taking down the Panthers 2-1 in a penalty shootout.
DeWitt’s Zachary Holden gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead with just 8.4 seconds remaining in the first half. Then in the 67th minute, Mason’s Alex Palmer had an answer with a goal to knot the score at 1-1.
Ultimately, the game went to a penalty shootout and it was Mason’s Blendi Jahiri who nailed the winning PK in the fifth round to give the Bulldogs the 4-3 penalty shootout victory.
Mason moves on to the regional semifinals on Oct. 23 to play Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood at Goodrich.
